Ed Fornieles, Modern Family, 2014

Ed Fornieles

Ed Forniele’s (b.1983) work deals with the ways in which people portray themselves in the real world and online. His work involves elaborate scenarios in which the artist invites collaborators to adopt alter-egos and engage in role-playing. The settings for Forniele’s work are often related to the coming-of-age phase in a young person’s life, or other rites of passage, such as high school relationships, frat parties or online seduction.

habitat extends an invitation to Forniele to narrate in the greyzone of the increasingly speedy changing ‘human portrait.’

Fornieles’ work has been presented internationally across museums, galleries, biennials, and performance platforms. His first major institutional solo exhibition, Modern Family, was shown at the Chisenhale Gallery, London, in 2014. Earlier projects include The Dreamy Awards at the Serpentine Galleries, London (2012), Characterdate at the Frieze London (2012), and Happy.
